Seza was born and grew up in Turkey. She graduated as an undergraduate with honors from the Department of Horticultural Sciences at Gaziosmanpasa University. During her undergraduate studies, she took courses in genetics and plant breeding which lead to her volunteering with various professors to work in plant breeding program. These were excellent career opportunities in terms of learning and understanding the details of plant breeding.
After successfully graduating from Gaziosmanpasa University, Seza was awarded a scholarship for her international graduate studies from Ministry of Education in Turkey. She welcomed this opportunity to advance her career and study abroad. She firmly believes that she made a wise decision to finish her master’s degree in the US. Since the Fall of 2017, she has been working with Dr. David Byrne in the Rose Breeding and Genetics Program in the Department of Horticultural Sciences at Texas A&M University. Seza’s research is focused on the ground thruthing of digital image analysis for rose productivity, leaf retention, and flower size for roses.
