Rezwan Tariq is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Rose Genetics Program at Texas A&M University. He earned his Ph.D. in Crop Genetics and Breeding from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), China. Rezwan has gained international research experience across multiple countries, including Turkey and Saudi Arabia, where he contributed to efforts to explore plant diversity and characterize important traits in diverse germplasm. His expertise spans plant genome assembly, transcriptomics, and quantitative genetics. In his current work, he applies genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to identify loci underlying key agronomic and ornamental traits across diverse rose germplasm. In parallel, he integrates high-density marker data with multi-year phenotypic data to predict trait performance using genomic prediction models. By combining GWAS insights with cutting-edge statistical methods, his research aims to clarify the genetic basis of complex traits in roses and to accelerate the development of superior cultivars through precision breeding and selection.
