Visiting Scientists

Dr. Koji Kawamura is an Associate Professor at the Osaka Institute of Technology in Osaka, Japan. Dr. Kawamura works on the bilogy and genetics of Botryococcus braunii and Rosa spp. Dr. Kawamura visited us from November 2023 to January 2024.
José Antonio S. Grossi earned his B.S. degree (1990) in Agronomy and his M.S. degree (1994) in Plant Science from the Federal University of Viçosa, in Brazil. In 1992 he became a member of the faculty at the Department of Plant Science of the Federal University of Viçosa. He received his Ph.D. degree (2000) in Horticulture from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Dr. Grossi visited us from September 2019 to August 2020.
Ling Wang is a professor from Northeast Forestry University, Harbin, China, where she does research and teaches in the field of landscape horticulture and ornamental breeding and genetics. Her teaching responsibilities include teaching courses in Landscape Dendrology and Wild Ornamental Genetic Resources. She focuses her research efforts on the breeding of iris in China. Other research includes molecular studies such as transcriptome analyses, the function of flower color regulation genes and transgenic breeding. She spent 12 months, beginning on December 30, 2017, as a visiting scientist in our program.
Hui was born and raised in Tai’an, Shandong Province in China. She loved planting flowers ever since she was a young girl. Her Master’s research investigated the genetic transformation of the grape at the Beijing Forestry University. In 2000, after completing her Master of Science degree, she began to work at the Beijing Institute of Landscape Architecture. She is currently a Senior Scientist and focuses on the breeding of roses for disease resistance, cold tolerance, and superior horticultural traits. Her team has released 7 rose cultivars that are suitable for the Beijing landscape. Hui visited us from December 2017 to December 2018.
