Ivan Perez

Ivan Perez is from San Antonio, TX. He began working for the Rose Genetics and Breeding Program in 2022 as an undergraduate research student, working on tissue culture in the lab and assisting operations at HortTREC. Ivan received a Bachelor of Science in Horticultural Sciences from Texas A&M University in the spring of 2024 and began the Master’s degree program in Horticultural Sciences at Texas A&M University in the fall of 2024.
Ivan’s work involves determining genetic abiotic factors responsible for low flowering in roses by identifying different quantitative trait loci responsible for heat resistance/plasticity.
Ivan recently competed in the Horticulture Departmental Seminar Poster Contest and earned third prize for his project ascertaing genetic determinants of phenotype plasticity in flower intensity.
